For Clinicians
For therapists, primary care and referring psychiatrists
A consultation-level psychiatric evaluation, with a written formulation and plan returned to you, and your patient returned to you.
What we offer your patient
A consultation-level psychiatric evaluation, 90 minutes by video. Evaluations are currently performed by Ulas Camsari, MD, our medical director, board-certified in General, Consultation-Liaison and Addiction Psychiatry and in Addiction Medicine, with faculty experience at Mayo Clinic and training at Johns Hopkins and Cleveland Clinic. You get a written formulation and a specific plan, and your patient comes back to you.
When to send someone
Send us
- The diagnosis is uncertain, or has changed more than once.
- Depression that has not responded to two adequate antidepressant trials.
- The unipolar-versus-bipolar question, especially before a third antidepressant.
- Psychiatric symptoms in a patient with significant medical illness, or medication interactions you would rather not manage alone.
- Substance use tangled up with a psychiatric illness, where it is unclear what to treat first.
- OCD that has not responded to standard-dose SSRI treatment.
- A patient, or a family, asking for a second opinion.
- A medication question that would benefit from pharmacogenomic testing.
What we do not do
- Psychotherapy as the primary treatment (we work alongside the therapist, not instead of one).
- Stimulant treatment of ADHD.
- Crisis or same-day care.
- Inpatient or residential care.
- Patients under 16 (16- and 17-year-olds are considered case by case).
How it works
- Send the referral through our referral form, or call 952-300-6277. A one-paragraph question (“Is this bipolar II? Is this patient a candidate for lithium?”) is more useful to us than a full chart.
- We contact the patient the same business day. Onboarding is online; records are requested with the patient’s authorization and reviewed before the visit, with no limit on volume.
- After the evaluation the patient receives our written formulation and plan, and so do you, with the patient’s consent. If we take over medication management, we say so explicitly; otherwise the plan is written for you to carry out.
Coverage. We are in network with the major Minnesota plans, Medicare, Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare; self-pay rates are published. Telehealth only at present; we see patients located in Minnesota, Florida and New Jersey.
